Sagarmatha Multiple College (SM College)
An
Introduction
Sagarmatha Multiple College (SM College), established
in2057 (2000) and affiliated to Purbanchal University, is
the creation of some Nepal's well-known educationists, academicians
and scholars. The team is led by professionally trained
and experienced teachers and staff. The college also runs
+2 Programmes in affiliation with Higher Secondary Education
Board (HSEB).
SM
College has just completed four years of its existence.
Today it is on a firm footing and is really getting into
its stride. The College Management expresses heartful gratitude
to all of its valued parents/guardians for their continued
support, advice, feedback and above all their warm affection
they have felt for the college. The College feels confident
that their support will continue ever in the future.

College has a vision for the Country, for the parents and
for the new generation of Nepal to shoulder the process
of nation-building and social change through innovative
and creative education.

College has been running purely on a non-profit basis and
with the involvement of professors, teachers and professionals,
including the local community participation.

in Science, Commerce and Humanities
Criteria for Admission
Those who have passed SLC or an equivalent exam are eligible
for application. Candidates applying for the study of science
must have secured at least 60% marks and 50% marks for Commerce
and Humanities. All students must submit the officially
certified copies of their certificates during the entrance
exam.
Curriculum
and Duration
This
is a standard two year long course as designed by the HSEB.
However, extra flavour has been given to each of the courses
to make them more interesting, constructive and practical.
Examination
Theoretical
and practical examinations are conducted in the first, second
and third terms as prescribed by the Purbanchal University
and/or the HSEB along with regular homework/assignments.
The College also runs additional remedial classes when necessary.
Send-up exams are conducted at the end of the year, both
theoretical and practical, to make the students well prepared
for final exams. It is also an opportunity for them to review
course and develop their skills to secure higher marks throughout.
Teaching Tools and Methods
SM
college faculty members represents diverse group of well-experienced
academics and search scholars. They also come from the long
and outstanding teaching profession in Nepal and abroad.
They apply special skills to motivate the students in the
classroom. In addition to this, the college also organizes
regular meetings and discussions with parents with the full
participation of teachers to improve the performance of
students.
Student Facilities
Computer Lab
SM College has its own computer lab with
internet facility for all students.
Laboratory
SM College also has a well- equipped science laboratory.
It has got all the necessary equipments and related-
facilities. The laboratory is accessible for practical courses
for the students of Physics, Chemistry and Biology as required
by the curriculum.
Library
SM College library offers a good
collection of prescribed textbooks as well as reference books,
including magazines and journals. Our library helps to prepare
students for information regulation.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria is located within the
College premises and it serves delicious Nepali, Indian and
Chinese food and light refreshments on a cost-recover basis.
Sports
Sufficient space for games such as
badminton and basketball etc. is available in the College to
develop student's innate talents. Besides outdoor games, it
also provides many other indoor activities for students.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Extra-curricular activities, designed to
promote the interaction and self-learning process from among
the teachers, students and the society as a whole, include
symposium, cultural programmes, Quiz contests, creative
writing and presentation, welcome and farewell parties,
picnics, field visits, excursion tours, etc.
Transportation
Transportation facility is available for
all level students. However, students and parents can also
park their vehicles within the College Premises.

Hostel Facilities for girls and boys
College Uniform
All + 2 and Bachelor-level students must
ear the prescribed uniform. The details are provided at the
time of admission.
Other Academic Activities
Center for Nepal Studies and Research
SM College is greatly honoured to
announce the recent establishment of a research centre, the
Center for Nepal Studies and Research (CNSR), as the first
institution of its pride under the Purbanchal University. The
main objectives of the centre are:
- To undertake critical and analytical
academic as well as pro-active research activities in the
field of contemporary social, cultural, political and
economic issues towards seeking appropriate solutions to
existing problems;
- To publicise, research findings in a
regular basis through its regular journal;
- To publicise research reports and
books in the field of sociology, anthropology, history,
culture, religion, economics, politics and society, ecology,
environment, bio-diversity, gender, human rights, democracy
and rule of law as well as Nepal's foreign policy and
international relations;
- To involve faculty members and
students in the innovative research activities and take the
basic research findings to the message by incorporating them
in school curriculum;
- To organize meetings, seminars and
conferences;
- To promote exchange programmes between
Nepali and foreign students and scholars as interns and
visiting fellows in the future, and
- To strengthen academic and
institutional linkages with others institutions and
universities in Nepal and abroad.
- The CNSR has a nine-member Board of
Directors which functions under the Chairmanship of SM
College Principal. The members of the Board are the Co-ordinators
of different research disciplines and a representative of
the Purbachal University.
Language Courses
Chinese Language
Keeping in view the increasing demand of
the knowledge of Chinese language as a result of increasing
openness in trade and tourism sectors between the two
countries, SM College has started the teaching of Chinese
language for qualified candidates throughout the year. The
Chinese language course also aims to promote interaction on
issues relating to Nepali and Chinese culture, religion,
industry, tourism and information technology.
Upon the completion of the Course, the
students will be able to demonstrate their proficiency and
build their career as tourist guides, programme organizers,
interpreters and /or participate in various types of meetings,
seminars, interactions both in Nepal as well as in China. The
basic knowledge of Chinese language further assists the
significant number of Nepali students who pursue their study
in China, e.g. medicine and other subjects.
