Introduction
School of Environmental Management and Sustainable
Development (SchEMS) is an academic and research institute,
founded in 1999 under Pokhara University to produce skilled
human resources particularly in the field environmental
management sector. Since its inception , SchEMS has been
conducting Bachelor and Master Degree programs in Environmental
Management.
SchEMS has also established academic exchange program with
University of Iowa (USA) and universities of many other
countries.

SchEMS and +2Program
In 2001 this institute established +2 Schools offering programs
in Science, Management and Humanities in affiliation to
the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) at Maharajgunj,
Kathmadnu. The +2 program has been initiated by a team of
professional and experienced teachers strongly dedicated
to imparting quality education.

SchEMS College is an institution of higher education offering

Learning Environment & Methodology
The college
has well-furnished classrooms and halls for conducting classes,
and ample equipments in the science laboratories, resourceful
library and sufficient computers for individual practice.
The classes are conducted in a peaceful learning environment,
where students gain skills and knowledge par excellence
as well as a strong sense of respect for individual ideas.
The college has pursued a pivotal role for excellence of
teaching and learning through lectures, presentations, back
up classes including guest lecture. It adopts participatory
teaching approach.

Details of Programs
SchEMS College offers its programs at +2 levels in Science,
Management and Humanities.
Science
English, mathematics, Nepali, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,
Computer Science.
Management
English, Nepali, Economics, Accountancy, OMSP/ Hotel Management,
Marketing/ Business Mathematics, Travel & Tourism and
Computer Science.
Humanities
English, Nepali, Economics, Sociology, Major (English, Mathematics,
Nepali and Mass Communication)
N.B: Students have to take five subjects for all programs.
There is an option between Computer Science and Biology
in Science Program. However, one can major in Physical or
Biological subjects when in Grade XII.
English,
Nepali and Accountancy are compulsory subjects for the students
of Management. They can major in any two of the subjects
from the list above. Likewise, English, Nepali and Economics
are compulsory subjects for the students of Humanities and
they can major in any two of the subjects from the list
above.

Admission Procedure
The students applying for admission to Science must have
scored 60% or more marks in S.L.C. or equivalent examination.
The students applying for admission to Management and Humanities
must have passed S.L.C. or equivalent examination at least
in second division. The college conducts the screening of
applicants through written tests and short interviews. Written
tests will be conducted on Mathematics and English for all
programs. The college deserves the right to consider discipline
and moral character of the students eligible for admission

Exam and Evaluation Procedures
Evaluation of the students is done through a series of monthly
tests, terminal tests and other appropriate examinations.
Progress reports of the tests will be handed to the parents/guardians.
The student must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each subject
to appear in the HSEB(Higher Secondary Education Board)
examination.

Policies and regulations
-
Class attendance: Students are obliged to attend
the classes regularly. If a student has to leave the
classes for more than two days she /he must furnish
an explanatory letter from their parents/guardians.
All tests and examinations conducted are mandatory for
all students.

Uniform: All students must attend the classes
in neat and tidy college uniform. Details of the uniform
will be provided from the reception desk.

Class Time:Classes run from 6:15 am to 12:30
pm everyday for Morning Shift and from 10:15 am to 4:30
pm (Science).

Class Duration: Each class is of 45 minutes duration.
There are five periods for Commerce and eight period
for Science each day.

Code of Conduct
The college has absolute right to expel any student if she/he
fails to follow the rules and regulations prescribed by
the college code of conduct.

Location
SchEMS college is situated at Brahma Cottage Maharajgunj,
Kathmandu, just five minutes walking distance from Narayan
Gopal Chowk, Ring Road, towards teaching hospital. This
college occupies five ropanies of land in the peaceful environment.
College has separate buildings for the class rooms,administration,laborities
etc.
