Introduction

We at Orient College are immensely pleased to have introduced 'O' & 'A' levels, Cambridge University, plus 2 program of HSEB in science, management, and humanities. These faculties at Orient have been established by a team of young, dynamic, highly qualified reputed teachers of different schools and colleges from the valley who have had experience in teaching these classes for more than 15 years now. As such, all these teachers are dedicated towards providing a high quality education.

Orient College hopes to excel in academic performance and allow its students to grow into healthy, creative and all round personalities. We seek to accomplish this through our commitment to excellence and continuous improvements, focusing on the current and future needs of Nepal with a team of dedicated, caring, and professional staff. Thus, the aim of the institution will be to bring out the best in out students. Here, at Orient College, we emphasize on child centric education. Thus, we hope to not only provide the students with excellent academic programs but also to enable them to develop their personalities mentally, socially, physically and emotionally, so that they become fully equipped young men and women-able to take on future challenges and contribute to their families and the nation.

+2 Program: An Overview

The college runs +2 program in Science, Commerce and Humanities streams in affiliation with Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB). The program has been introduced at Orient College in order to meet the growing demands of quality education.

Students have to choose one of the two groups: Physical/Biology


Entry requirements
Minimum of 50% in S.L.C. Examination.
Entrance Examination performance.

Commerce Program

UCLES

The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) established in 1857. Since then, UCLES International Examinations have developed steadily and their standards are recognized throughout the world. Every year, more than one million candidates sit for the Cambridge Examinations in over 150 countries. Orient College is an advanced academic institution affiliated to the Cambridge University, UK and the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Nepal. Our motto- Education for Excellence stands in words and spirits. We, here, at Orient College offer these facilities to you. The school works in close co-operation with the British Council locally and provides an academic excellence to out students.

Eligibility
Students who have completed their grade 10 and appeared for the SLC or other grade 10 Boards are eligible to apply for the O Levels. However, students who secure 55 percent and above in their LSC or equivalent exams may get direct access to the 'AS' and 'A' Levels.

Class Hours
Classes are run 6 days a week (Sunday-Friday) from 6.15 a.m. to 12 a.m. The institution remains open except on certain Government holidays and Term Holidays. A list of holidays and other relevant matters are published on the School Calendar.

Scope for Further Studies
After the completion of 'A' levels, the student can apply for admission to the Undergraduate course in any of the top colleges worldwide like in the USA and the UK. Normally, for 'O' level, a student can take a maximum of 6 subjects of his/her choice. However, few students may opt for less than 6 subjects depending upon his. her interest and capability. 'A' level students in Nepal take General Paper (English Language) as 'AS' level and any 3 papers as 'A' levels Those students wishing to study in Nepal can get admission in the second year of the B.A./ B.Sc. or B.Com courses provided they sit for the first year exams in their entrance test. An 'A' level Examination score of A grade is equivalent to 95%, B grade is 84.5% and 44.5% is considered as pass and so on. The Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University and Universities in India and abroad recognize these courses.

Syllabus
The study program includes ten months 'O' level and two years to complete both 'AS' and 'A' level courses.

Examination & Centre Fees
The Examination and Centre fees will be determined as per rules and regulations of the University of Cambridge and the British Council. The GCE Final Examinations will be conducted at the British Council for the British Embassy or any other Centre determined by the British Council, Nepal.
