Background
National
College for Higher Education (NCHE) was established in 1996
by a group of dedicated academicians for providing quality
and need-based education in a highly qualitative
environment. The board objective of the college has been to
prepare and mould students capable of catering to future
challenges in most pragmatic manner.
Right from the inception,
National College has been imparting academic excellence with
proper guidance and encouragement to enhance the overall
personality development of students. With the dire needs for
competent professionals in the country, NCHE has been
offering diverse academic programs viz., Higher Secondary
Level Programs in Science, Management and Humanities and
Bachelor level program in Development Studies. Besides
these, NCHE has a separate research and development wing
under Centre fro Development Studies (CeDS) to conduct
research and training activities for its students, staffs
and needy people in a regular basis. The motto of the NCHE
is to inculcate knowledge for students through rigorous
teaching, training and research activities.

NCHE has been offering +2
programs in Science, Management and Humanities in
affiliation with Higher Secondary Education Board, Nepal
right from its inception. The objective of the program is to
produce highly-skilled, genuine, disciplined and
academically sound intermediate graduates seeking admission
to related courses in reputed universities within and
outside Nepal.
Bachelor of Arts in
Development Studies (BDevS)
(IN affiliation with
Kathmandu University)
Bachelor of Arts in
Development Studies (BDevS) is first of its kind in Nepal,
conceived and offered by National College. The essential
concern of the BDevS is to provide broadest
interdisciplinary scope for effective resource use,
processing and transformation, and for sustainable
development for students The program mission is thus based
on the premise that "The ultimate goal of sectoral efforts
is development for improving the standard of living (SOL)
and quality of life (QOL) of people".
Research, Development and
Training
Centre for Development
Studies (CeDS), established as an integral part of National
College along with the initiation of Bachelor of Arts in
Development Studies, has placed lots of effort to undertake
regular research and training activities to the needy
personnel and students. Research and Development wing under
CeDS has been offering professional training packages on
capacity building, social mobilization, proposal and report
writing.

To
achieve the broad and specific objectives, NCHE has given
lot of efforts to create conducive environment and vibrant
diverse academic community with:

· Varieties of extra-curricular activities to enhance the
hidden talents of the students.
Approach and Methodology
The academic excellence to
the students has been imparted through rigorous teaching and
practical classes coupled with home assignments, regular
tests and excursion trips. Annual excursion tour provides
the students an opportunity to learn about various concealed
facts relevant to their field of studies. As college
maintains a high teacher-students ratio, it provides
teachers ample opportunity to monitor each student's
progress closely. The college has a strong approach to
maintain regular attendance and punctuality for both
teachers and students. Discipline is one of the important
factor for overall development of the students, which is
maintained in the college strictly.

Extracurricular
Activities
All
students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular
activities like dramatics, elocution, debate, public
speaking and music. Besides these, college has been offering
various types of outdoor and indoor game competition like
basketball, badminton, TT, essay competition, quizzes, poem
competition etc. Students are initiated to engate in
research-oriented assignments right from this level.
Past Track
The college has already
produced seventh batches of +2 graduates. The result of
Science, Management and Humanities are excellent not only in
pass percentage but also in the scoring, higher than SLC.
Most of them have passed in the first division, Quality of
NCHE graduates can also be assessed from their enrollment
and scholarships they have received in different
universities, medical colleges (including IOM, Maharajgunj),
Engineering college (including IOE, Pulchowk), USA, India,
Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Singapore, Thailand, Australia,
Switzerland, UK, Japan, Canada etc.
Future Plan
National College, a
brainchild of deeply committed and dynamic professors and
academicians, is very encouraged with the achievements that
it has been able to make just within the span of 8 years. We
are deeply engaged to achieve still outstanding performance
in academic domain in future. We are in the process to run
Bachelor level program in Mass Communication, Postgraduate
Diploma Program (PGDP) in Human and Natural Resource
Management (HNRM). The proposals for these programs have
already been submitted to Kathmandu University for
consideration and approval. CeDS is in the process of
publishing an academic research journal which could be an
avenue for creative students to involve. It also offers
common platform to revamp their research and writing
potentiality. Besides, we are striving to collaborate with
universities in and around Nepal to expand opportunities for
the students.
